Meet Dr. Smith
Meet Dr. Smith, a native of South Carolina whose formative years were steeped in outdoor pursuits like hunting, fishing and scuba diving, all of which this state’s abundant natural offerings generously provided. In his teenage years he earned the prestigious Eagle Scout award, setting the stage for a life characterized by service and achievement.
Graduating from Clemson University with a degree in engineering, he found himself thrust into action as a field engineer following the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo’s impact on the coast. For three years, he dedicated himself to rebuilding mid-rise condominiums in Wild Dunes, embodying resilience in the face of adversity.
However, a deeper yearning to make a palpable impact on people’s lives prompted him to return to academia. He embarked on a journey that led to the attainment of his medical degree, subsequently specializing in Family Medicine and earning Board Certification in the field. A committed member of the Army Reserves, Dr. Smith played a pivotal role during Operating Enduring Freedom, serving two deployments and attaining the rank of Major. His pride in contributing to his country’s service remained unwavering.
Following a fruitful 15-year tenure in primary care, a desire for new horizons stirred within him. Taking a hiatus, he immersed himself in addiction medicine training, gaining proficiency in assisting individuals battling alcohol and opioid addiction. His dedication to expanding his skill set led him to the Ketamine Research Institute, where he obtained certification in administering intravenous ketamine to address mood disorders.
With unwavering support from his wife Angela, Dr. Smith realized his dream by establishing his own practice in Mount Pleasant. Today, he stands at the forefront of innovative mood disorder and addiction treatments, offering the community cutting-edge solutions. His personal life is equally vibrant. He loves the Clemson Tigers, his Lord and Savior and Red fishing. He cherishes his 3 girls and his wife, Angela where they share a home with their trio of canine companions in Awendaw, SC.
